Finally, networking and ordering on site again: Nordstil restarts the trade fair calendar

2 Sep 2020

Emails, video conferences and webinars have dominated our daily work routine over the last few months. Online has made many things possible and driven things forward in the past months. But most business relationships result from personal conversations, which is why on-site meetings are so important. Nordstil sets sail from 5 to 7 September 2020 and is the first event ever to be held again after the lockdown in Germany by Messe Frankfurt in the Hamburg exhibition halls.

300 exhibitors present their highlights after the lockdown in halls A1, A3 and A4 in the western part of the Hamburg exhibition center. At Summer Nordstil 2020, they will show the latest trends that make living, decorating and giving even more beautiful. For the retail trade, Nordstil is the order date for the autumn, winter and Christmas business and in some cases for the following spring and summer business.

Nordstil 2020
Summer Nordstil 2020: One of the first consumer goods fairs to be held again since the outbreak of the pandemic

"Trade fairs are still the only marketing instrument that can appeal to all five senses of man. We have seen in recent months how online communication is becoming more and more integrated into our everyday lives, but long-term customer loyalty still requires personal contact and exchange. Especially in digital times, touching, networking and ordering on the spot is becoming increasingly important. That's why we are delighted to offer the consumer goods industry this opportunity to meet up in person at Nordstil," says Stephan Kurzawski, member of the Management of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.

For Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO, Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, it looks similar: "The Corona caused Contact restrictions have very many people once again made clear how valuable personal encounters are. This applies especially for the exhibition and congress business. We are very pleased therefore, after more than six months having an event on our exhibition center again. The first trade fair to be held is Nordstil – an event of Messe Frankfurt – which will take place on our premises. An important foundation stone for this new start is a comprehensive hygiene concept, based on the latest official regulations and offers all participants the best possible protection.

Hygiene measures at trade fairs are an important part of the restart after the Corona break. The safety of all trade fair participants - visitors, exhibitors, journalists, employees - will have the highest priority at the upcoming event and has been closely coordinated with Hamburg's local health authorities. For example, the ventilation system in the halls constantly ensures that the hall air is replaced by fresh air. To ensure that visitors keep the prescribed distance of one and a half meters between each other, there are one-way guides at the hall entrances and inside the halls, extra-wide boulevards inside the halls and distance markings at information counters and checkrooms. At these and all other areas accessible to the general public, mouth and nose protection is mandatory. In addition, this year tickets can only be purchased online in advance. This eliminates the need for contact with cashiers and at the same time ensures that the maximum number of visitors for one day of the fair is not exceeded.

What awaits the visitors

The Nordstil is an important place for retailers to order, network and have an inspiring experience. The majority of Sommer Nordstil exhibitors are made up of companies in the home and decoration sector, as well as lifestyle products from well-known designers and manufacturers. In addition to exhibitors from Germany such as David Fussenegger or Werkhaus, 34 Danish exhibitors and 17 Dutch exhibitors, among others, will enrich the product range of the trade fair this summer. The range is rounded off by the latest trends in jewelry, fashion, gifts and stationery. Due to the short lead time and a completely new layout in the western section of the exhibition center, the individual products are not, as usual, structured according to product areas. This offers retailers new opportunities: They can now discover more new products from product segments that complement each other and thus receive additional ideas for their product range. Another source of inspiration is the range offered by the Buddelhelden: Visitors will find fine wines and selected spirits in Hall A4 as an additional assortment.

The Nordstil will take place from 5 to 7 September 2020.
