Nordstil Trend Islands: Participation for exhibitors

The Trend Islands at Nordstil Winter offer exhibitors an eye-catching stage for their products and visitors a creatively staged and exclusive selection of products. In collaboration with Karin Wahl, visual merchandising expert, the area brings the trends for spring/summer 2025 to life. The two trend themes of polarity and deceleration characterise the coming season.

Polarity

Our worlds are constantly shifting. We have one foot in the real world and the other in the digital world. These contrasts invite us to recognise the diversity of life and find beauty in the opposites. They create tension, emphasise differences and lend depth to our experiences.

The phase of intense colours still continues, but in 2025 they will slowly become more muted and in some cases flow into one another. A blue-purple colour combined with a yellow-green, for example, creates tension. The additional contrast to this is a clear and shiny silver. In terms of materials, aluminium, glass blocks and rough textures play a role. This style emphasises a balance between raw, unfinished materials and elegant, modern elements, creating spaces that are sophisticated. The shapes also change and become more fluid. Soft and curved shapes are used, slowly moving away from sharp, geometric lines.

Deceleration

In these turbulent times, we yearn for deceleration and distraction. The ultimate goal is to calm down and unwind in a relaxed atmosphere. It's okay for the colours to become a little warmer again. Warm colours are a good tool for influencing moods and shaping environments. In contrast to contrasting colours, they radiate harmony, which is good for us right now.

One of the trends in 2025 will be washed-out colours with speckles. They are evidence of attempts to experiment with natural materials in the dyeing process. The light and flowing colour spectrum ranges from a softened coral to a soft light blue to a dreamy pink. Similarly, several material trends are emerging in different areas such as interior design and fashion, reflecting a mix of sustainability, technology and a return to natural elements and a more conscious use of resources. These materials can include wood, stone and other organic qualities.
