The Trend Islands at Nordstil Summer offer exhibitors an eye-catching stage for their products and visitors a creatively staged and exclusive selection of products. In collaboration with Karin Wahl, visual merchandising expert, the special presentation brings the trends for autumn/winter 2025 to life. The two trend themes “Timeless warmth” and “Creative rebellion” characterise the coming season.
Timeless warmth
In these turbulent times, we feel a growing need to follow our emotions and trust our instincts. As autumn approaches, we long for human connection and heartfelt togetherness. The desire to move away from impersonal minimalism towards a sense of deep-rooted sensuality is becoming ever stronger.
As a result, warm, earthy tones such as terracotta, ochre, brown and soft shades of green are setting the trend and making their way into many living spaces. These colours create a cosy atmosphere that’s perfect for the colder months. Materials like fluffy wool, (faux) fur, aged leather, handmade textiles, natural stone and ceramics contribute to a warm and inviting environment. They bring timeless elegance and durability to interior spaces. Untreated, rustic wooden surfaces, with their natural grain and small imperfections, highlight the beauty of imperfection and offer tactile experiences that appeal to the senses. Patterns are becoming more muted, fluid and delicate, adding an extra layer of warmth to every room.
Creative rebellion
There is often a strong urge to break away from convention and traditional norms and to pursue one’s own path – especially when it comes to our living spaces. Individuality takes centre stage here: people are making bold choices that reflect their personality and unique style, using surprising materials and forms. Furniture made from recycled materials or featuring unconventional designs adds striking accents. Artworks and handcrafted objects tell personal stories and deepen our appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity.
Vibrant colours such as rich crimson, bright sky blue or bold yellow are used as accent shades to invigorate spaces and create dynamic contrast. Daring patterns and eclectic combinations are typical of this approach. Contrasts are frequently used to create visual tension, often complemented by an exciting mix of stripes, geometric shapes and wild pairings.
